November Second Event Log

November Event Log (Part II)
Dominant Element: Shadow
Waning Element: Light
Full Moon: November 26th - 28th
※
The fog has finally cleared in the city. Returning from the Spirit Realm, the city will get to enjoy the crisp late autumn air as the leaves continue to turn and fall off the tree. In the final weeks of the month, they can feel the chill of winter coming. The skies get darker than normal thanks to the shadow element's presence, but at least the sky seems back to normal... though you swear the Spirit Vein looks bigger than you remember.

It's been a rough couple of weeks- the city has been besieged with yokai, and very little of it was unharmed. The app users have shown their usual reliance and pluck, fighting to protect their home, with various degrees of success.
A group of app users have bound together to battle Yamata-no-Orochi, and with him defeated, Lord Ao keeps his side of the bargain he made in enlisting the app users help to fight the many-headed menace in the first place. Lord Ao and his forces use their power to prevent Kaisou's fall into the Spirit Realm for one more year. He explains this is not a permanent solution, that the app users will need to figure out how to handle this problem in the following year, and if they fail? The city will once again be pulled into the Spirit Realm, permanently this time, going the way of many cities before it.
With that ominous warning ringing in their ears, the app users will find Kaisou once again, largely, back to normal. The Spirit Vein glows in the sky, and the city is once again joined with the part that didn't get trapped in the Spirit Realm. Anyone who was on the normal side of things will act in confusion if you talk about how most of the city had been swallowed by the Spirit Realm. They act as if they are waking from a dream- as if they never noticed anything was missing at all. When asked about the destruction the city, they will remember a bad earthquake happening the day before. While it's tempting to delve more into that, there are far more pressing concerns to deal with. The city may have been pulled out of the Spirit Realm, but the damage left behind is still very much there. Now it is time to repair and rebuild.

While the city is out of the Spirit Realm, there are plenty of scars left by the brief time there. Many of the normal people chalk the damage from a bad earthquake- even though Kaisou really isn't know for being a place for earthquakes. It'll take some time to clean it all up, so let's take a moment to survey how it all turned out.
All Over Town: In about 45% of the town, mint plants have been planted into either the ground or in planters. Those with sensing ability will be able to tell these plants are magical in some way, possibly even divine. You may want to try to remove it before it takes over your entire yard, but be careful for an angry goddess that might try to fight you if you do. If you inquire where the mint might have come from, you might hear rumors among paranormal circles about a mischievous yokai named "Minto no kyōi" or "the mint meance" that was running around during everything and planting mint. Is that...really true? The rumormill sure seem to think it is.
Civilians: Thanks to the efforts of so many to seek out refugees and heal people, the casualities were pretty minimal! Those paranormal folks who were stuck in the Spirit Realm are extremely thankful to everyone who helped them. You can expect free food and other gifts being sent your way by very grateful folks. Great work focusing on protecting people guys!
Cathedral Hill and Undertown: While there's clean up of trash and supplies from people camping out in these two parts of the city for a couple weeks- these two areas are in pretty good shape! Not too surprising since they were the safe zones. That said, there is still a little of damage in front of the cathedral that looked like it came from some supernatural fight. Pretty weird considering it's in the dead center of Cathedral Hill-- but maybe something got through when you weren't looking? (No).
Midtown, Brick Alley: These neighborhoods have sustained some minor property damage from all the roaming gangs of oni had been here. Fortunately thanks to so many people's interventions, the worst of the damage have been prevented and most of it is pretty minor property damage that can be repaired.
Shopping Street: Shopping Street meanwhile has it a bit tougher. While the exteriors of the buildings are mostly fine, a lot of the merchandise has been damaged or broken from getting possessed by spirits. Many shopkeepers here will need help with cleaning up their wares and looking into ways to replace them. Talk about bad timing for the holiday season.
Kami State Park: The Osorezan group has finally cleared out. While some were taken out in a fight, the rest decided after the Orochi battle to make themselves scarce. While some of their decorations can still be up, most traces of them are gone. However some will sense that the spirit energy in this area has increased. It's more likely you'll find supernatural entities roaming these forests, and the occasional appearance of tears leading into monster filled labyrinths. That's fine, probably.
The Beach: Akkorokamui has left... kinda. While Jusis was successful in persuading him to go far enough out so ships can still use the harbor, if one were to dive deep enough into the oceans of Kaisou...they might run the risk of running into that massive octopus. And sometimes if you're watching on the beach, you may see in the distance a large tentacle sticking out of the water.
Blue Fish State Park: Unfortunately, since so many of you decided to actually give them such great deals on such little information ... the kitsune has decided it's worth sticking around in Kaisou. Deep in the park forest, some kitsune can be found in the area that the Fae once stayed. They've set up their own shop there, where they are willing to trade valuables for either information or other things. Great job guys showing them that you guys are easy to sucker.
Entertainment District: One of the places that sustained the most damage, second only to Central Square. While the buildings haven't been to the ground, the entire place looked like it survived a massive riot. There's going to be needing a lot of things cleaned and repaired before it can turn back to it's former glory.
Central Square: Speaking of Central Square... this part of the city is basically decimated. The place where you battled Orochi still stands, looking like it's gone through a war. There's even plenty of damage from explosions that must've caused either by rockets or a very, very, big gun. The buildings here have been so badly damaged that they are now uninhabitable - requiring the buisnesses and offices to have to move to other parts of the city. Basically this whole area will need to be rebuilt from the ground up, which isn't going to happen anytime soon. In the meantime, it wouldn't be a bad place to take any fights you don't want civilians caught up in.
All in all, there's a lot to clean up, but things could've gone much worse. Everyone should feel pretty proud of themselves for managing as well as they did. Though remember, the deal you made will only last a year before this could happen all over again. Best to think about how you can prevent or prepare for next time.

The city may be recovering from the yokai incursion, but life will go on. And this time of year that means only one thing: it's the holiday season! Grocery stores everywhere are rushing to get things cleaned up so they can start pushing their Thanksgiving specials before it's too late. Turkeys everywhere are on sale, as is everything else one might consider traditional for a Thanksgiving dinner. If you don't particularly feel like spending that much money on a fancy meal, Zodiac is offering app users free turkeys and other fixings as a thank you for fighting so hard to save the city. Whichever way you get the food, the holiday might be a great chance to gather those closest to you for some much needed time together. Holidays are about families after all, whether they be families that you were born into or your found yourself.
The only group working harder than the grocery stores to get everything back to normal might just be the retail stores. Sure, Thanksgiving is important, but they have a bigger bird to fry: Black Friday. Even before the actual day there are sales being advertised left, right, and center, plastered on billboards and all over the internet. You can't escape them! Now might be the perfect time to snag that TV you've been eying, or that 5-in-1 cooking appliance that says it'll do everything! All you have to do is brave the crowds and avoid getting run over by a shopping cart. Considering the month you've had, it should be a breeze. Right?
As the month draws a close, you'll see more and more Christmas decorations being put up. You might even be able to make some cash with helping out with setting up for the holiday season, if you get tired helping with clean up.
Aside from a minor incident with a dragon (log pending), the rest of the month goes quietly. You managed to save the day and give Kaisou more time. There's plenty of work that will need to be done within the next year, but for now? It's probably best to try to relax and recover from the ordeal you've been through.
Well, rest for everyone not part of a secret organization. With the return of the city, contact with the Black Order and POKEGO will be re-established and boy, they will have a lot of questions. Good luck fielding them all! They will certainly be reacting with their own ways of expressing concern for both the city, and for the future.
The dominant element this month is Shadow! Anyone with an affinity to the shadow element will find themselves boosted throughout the month. This could mean a boost to their power, having more energy, feeling more inspired with creativity, having better luck on different attempts -- the boost can manifest in all sorts of different ways. By contrast, anyone with an affinity for Light will be experiencing the opposite. Perhaps their powers will be weaker, they have less energy, they're having a creative block or general worse luck - again it can manifest in all sorts of way and players are free to play with this mechanic as they'd like.
The original OOC plotting post for this event can be found here. This is the closing log for the November plot! You are still free to backtag the first log as long as you want, this is mostly meant to be as a signal that their lives are going back to normal.
